Inclement Weather

BASIC POLICY

In the event of inclement weather conditions, it should always be assumed that UW-Whitewater will remain open and activities and classes will take place as scheduled. University officials monitor the weather closely and respond accordingly to keep campus operations going.

As with any inclement weather event, please use your own best judgment and consider your personal safety before deciding to attend classes or work.

Please note that weather conditions may impact operations at the Whitewater and Rock campuses differently, and cancellations and closures may differ based on campus.

CLASS INFORMATION
During times when classes are in session, faculty and instructional staff members are expected to communicate with students via Canvas regarding individual course cancellations or individual changes in course format/modality. Students are expected to communicate with their instructors if they won't be in class.

In the unlikely event that classes are canceled or a significant change in modality is required university-wide (such as remote learning), UW-Whitewater will provide information through the emergency notification system, which sends notifications via email, the UW-Whitewater homepage and mobile alerts.

EMPLOYEES

Employees who cannot make it safely to work are expected to contact their supervisors and request appropriate leave or make arrangements for remote work as their job duties allow. Learn more about Universities of Wisconsin policy on inclement weather.
